Storage and Handling of Lyophilized Research Peptides

Published · Last updated · Publisher: ENOS Labs USA

How should research peptides be stored?

Storage conditions are material specific. Temperature, moisture and light affect peptide stability, and the label is the source for stated conditions. Published stability research and storage records do not establish the identity, purity or shelf life of an ENOS lot.

Sealed material and moisture

Lyophilization removes water by sublimation under vacuum. Moisture exposure can affect the physical state and stability of a dry cake. Packaging condition and visible changes are observations to record, not substitutes for analytical evidence.

Temperature and light

Published stability studies examine temperature, light and moisture as separate variables. A material's stated storage conditions belong in its label or supporting documentation; no universal shelf life follows from the word lyophilized.

Reading stability evidence

A stability study applies to its specified material, packaging, analytical methods and observation period. Findings cannot be transferred to a different lot without supporting evidence. USP storage terminology and ICH stability frameworks help distinguish stated conditions from demonstrated stability.

Documentation

Lot identifiers, receipt dates, packaging observations and storage history provide a record of material handling. If an analytical document is available, its lot, methods and date should be reviewed separately. None of these recordkeeping fields alone proves identity or purity.

Why storage conditions are a quality attribute

Published work on peptide physical stability shows that temperature, concentration, pH and agitation all affect aggregation, and that particulates can appear in lyophilized peptide products over storage time. A published stability result applies only to the material and conditions studied; it does not establish the condition of a catalog lot.
