Tesamorelin is a stabilized GHRH analog studied in randomized human trials, including research in people with HIV-associated abdominal fat accumulation and in older adults with or without mild cognitive impairment. Study record Study record
In a 26-week trial of 412 patients with HIV and abdominal fat accumulation, CT-measured visceral adipose tissue decreased by 15.2% with tesamorelin and increased by 5.0% with placebo. Study record
In a 12-month randomized trial in people with HIV and NAFLD, tesamorelin reduced magnetic-resonance-spectroscopy-measured hepatic fat fraction relative to placebo by an estimated 4.1 percentage points, corresponding to a 37% relative reduction from baseline. Study record
The cognition study enrolled 152 adults aged 55 to 87 years, including 66 with mild cognitive impairment, and compared tesamorelin with placebo over 20 weeks rather than testing a preclinical neuroinflammation model. Study record
Its intention-to-treat analysis favored GHRH treatment on cognition, with a subsequent executive-function result of P=.005, whereas the verbal-memory finding was only a trend at P=.08. Study record
In that older-adult trial, mild adverse events were reported by 68% of GHRH-treated participants versus 36% receiving placebo, and fasting insulin increased within the normal range in participants with mild cognitive impairment. Study record
These population-specific studies measured fat distribution, liver fat, and cognitive test performance; they did not establish lifespan extension, dementia prevention, or comparable outcomes from research-grade tesamorelin products. Study record Study record Study record
